Very interesting article from Harvard Business Review related to long term planning in our companies. many people has been talking during this economic crisis, that part of the problem is the pressure coming from investors and work ethics (or lack of them I should say) that pushed corporations to seek fast results.
So what can companies do to make sure they don’t leave long term planning in a forgotten drawer? Well this article suggests that companies would have a longer-term focus if they had more scientists and engineers in their leadership ranks or on their boards of directors. They mention Amazon and Google for example.
Long term focus is definitely a hard sell in many companies, but something that hopefully this last economic crisis is bringing to perspective.
